Singapore, a city known for its modernity and elegance, boasts a skyline that’s synonymous with opulence and innovation. At the heart of the Marina Bay lies the architectural marvel of Marina Bay Sands, an iconic resort that has become a symbol of luxury and extravagance in Southeast Asia. It goes without saying but it IS pricey to stay here, but if you’re able to splurge on staying for 1-2 nights to at least experience the SkyPark and its infinity pool, as well as the surrounding nearby attractions, then it will be well worth it for the amazing experience and memories. Unique Architecture and Design
From afar, Marina Bay Sands stands tall with a trio of skyscrapers connected by the iconic SkyPark. As I approached the hotel, the sheer scale and grandeur of this architectural masterpiece become even more apparent and created such an awe-inspiring visual experience. It’s not every day you see a uniquely-designed building.
The iconic SkyPark atop the three towers is a long boat-like deck where the famous infinity pool is located. Across the street but internally accessible and connected to the main towers is The Shoppes at Marina Bay. The Shoppes is enclosed in curved outer windowed walls providing ample natural light into the luxury mall.
Part of Marina Bay Sands but externally accessible from the main towers is the ArtScience Museum. Atop the museum is a large flower-like structure with petals reaching up towards the sky. Additionally, at the base of the museum is a shallow lotus-filled pond with a beautiful backdrop of the city skyline beyond it.
Accommodations Fit for Royalty
Entering Marina Bay Sands feels like stepping into a realm of luxury. The hotel boasts lavishly designed rooms and suites, each meticulously designed to provide unparalleled comfort and sophistication. I don’t often splurge on nice high-end rooms, so the room I stayed at was definitely one of the nicest and most luxurious rooms I’ve stayed in. The room was HUGE and the floor-to-ceiling windows were the highlight for me. I just have a thing for amazing views, so the panoramic views from the rooms – either overlooking the city skyline or the picturesque Gardens by the Bay – were simply breathtaking.
I chose a room facing the city skyline and I loved the views from this side. However, from the rooftop, I did see the view of the Gardens by the Bay side facing out towards the Singapore Strait and that was amazing too! So if you’re trying to figure out “which side of the Marina Bay Sands should I stay on?”, I’d say just pick based on your personal preference. Regardless of which side you choose, you can not go wrong with either. Below are photos I took from both sides to help with any decisions.
Indulge in Dining and Entertainment
Dining at Marina Bay Sands is an experience in itself. The resort has world-class restaurants that can offer a diverse culinary experience. From Michelin-starred fine dining establishments to casual eateries serving delectable local cuisine, there seems to be something to suit every taste. Be sure to also try the amazing breakfast buffet at RISE on the lobby floor. There were TONS of food options and the food was delicious and tasted of high quality for it being a buffet. I consider the RISE buffet to be one of the best buffets I’ve been to abroad!
The entertainment options here are equally impressive too. You can catch a spectacular theater performance, try your luck at the casino, or enjoy a leisurely evening at the stylish bars and lounges. You’re sure to leave Marina Bay Sands with a memorable experience regardless of what you choose to do.
If you want to enjoy a drink or meal with spectacular rooftop views, there are 3 rooftop restaurants you can visit atop Marina Bay Sands: LAVO Italian Restaurant & Rooftop Bar, Spago Bar & Lounge, and CE LA VI Sky Bar & Club Lounge. These are open to visit by everyone (not just hotel guests), however I recommend making a reservation if dining in.
Nearby Attractions within Walking Distance
One of the greatest advantages of staying at Marina Bay Sands is its proximity to several iconic attractions:
- Gardens by the Bay: Just a short stroll away, this award-winning garden features the iconic Supertree Grove, conservatories housing diverse plant species, and the mesmerizing OCBC Skyway offering breathtaking views.
- Getting there: There is access to the entrance pathway to Gardens by the Bay on the first floor of the Hotel.
- ArtScience Museum: Part of Marina Bay Sands but externally-accessible, this innovative museum hosts captivating exhibitions that blend art, science, culture, and technology, making it a must-visit attraction.
- Getting there: From the Hotel, you’ll have to walk through the Shoppes which is accessible by escalators from the first floor of the lobby. Then you’ll follow street pole-style signs that points towards the ArtScience Museum. You’ll be led outdoors to get to the front entrance of the museum.
- Merlion Park: A quintessential Singaporean landmark where the mythical Merlion statue stands proudly overlooking Marina Bay, offering an ideal spot for photos and scenic views of the bay.
- Getting there: From the hotel, hug the outer perimeter of the Marina Bay and head towards the park. This is the longest distance you’ll walk and takes about 20-30 minutes to get there.
All the above are within walking distance from the hotel. Learn more at Top 5 Attractions near Marina Bay Sands.
The Crown Jewel: SkyPark and Infinity Pool
The SkyPark, perched atop the towers, is Marina Bay Sands’ main feature. Offering a stunning 360-degree view of the cityscape, it’s a photographer’s paradise. Additionally, the world’s largest and arguably most famous rooftop infinity pool is located here. It attracts guests to take a dip and immerse themselves in luxury while overlooking the city skyline. Spending a day lounging by and swimming in the pool is a truly unforgettable experience. I easily spent 8 hours at the pool during my visit, and just lazed in the sun chairs admiring the incredible views.
The infinity pool is only accessible to hotel guests where each guest will need a hotel room card to enter. However, non-guests are able to visit the SkyPark observation deck (but not the pool) to enjoy the 56-story high views. The entrance to the observation deck is via an elevator next to the Tower 1 entrance. It is marked with a sign you cannot miss. You can purchase tickets to the deck here.
The pool area has plenty of sunchairs, provides towels, and waiters are available to take your food or drink order. Additionally, at times, there are photographers roaming around ready to take your photo as well. You can purchase these photos digitally and physically in a souvenir frame or album.
