Intro
Singapore’s skyline is full of incredible buildings but few stand out like the ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands. The museum building is most noticeable for its giant lotus flower design, but inside it hosts unique rotating exhibitions. However, its permanent show, Future World: Where Art Meets Science, definitely draws in the biggest crowds with its fusion of art, science, and technology.
But is it actually worth your time? After spending a morning exploring the exhibit, here’s my honest review of the ArtScience Museum’s Future World exhibit.

A Quick Introduction
Future World is a collaboration between the museum and teamLab, the internationally acclaimed Japanese art collective. This permanent exhibit is an immersive digital playground that combines cutting-edge technology, interactive installations, and breathtaking visuals.

Highlights of Future World
City in a Garden
City in a Garden is a floor-to-ceiling digital landscape of flowers that bloom, scatter, and regrow as you move around. It’s serene, fun and mesmerizing.

Sketch Aquarium & Airspace
A favorite for kids and adults (and also a favorite of mine), where you get to do this experience twice: one is an aquarium with marine life, and the other is an airspace with planes and flying animals. In both these, various outline sketches of either sea life or planes are provided that you can choose from. Then using the provided crayons, you can decorate and color in your sketches in any way you want. Suddenly, you’ll be able to see your design come to life on the large digital screen. Your animal or plane can be spotted swimming or flying, making this the perfect blend of art and imagination with technology.

Play Area
From bouncing digital balls to a floating obstacle course, the play area is where you can have a bit of adventure. However, you can only partake in the obstacle course if you have closed-toe shoes.

Space & Universe
If you’ve visited Japan’s teamLab exhibits, then these installations are certainly reminiscent of that and are even made by the same art collective, teamLab. You’ll walk through starry galaxies and mesmerizing light installations. The infinity light room installation called Crystal Universe, is a true immersive experience walking through light with borderless effects.

The Good
Highly Interactive
Unlike most museums, you’re part of the art. Touch, move, draw. Your actions change the exhibits.
Great For All Ages
Children can run and play, adults can admire the artistry and innovation.
Unique in Singapore
You won’t find another museum in the city quite like this.
Photogenic
The light installations are stunning for photos and videos.
The Not-So-Good
Limited Scope
The exhibit is compact; you can see everything in about 1.5–2 hours. Don’t expect a full-day activity.
Crowds
On weekends or school holidays it can get very busy, which makes the interactive zones less magical.
Where to Stay in Singapore
I stayed at Marina Bay Sands, an ICONIC hotel with its three towers and the famous rooftop infinity pool on top. If you want a once-in-a-lifetime stay, then staying at Marina Bay Sands is a must.
