Intro
Flying out of Fiji is always bittersweet, but my recent journey from Nadi International Airport to Sydney was made much more enjoyable by splurging on Fiji Airways Business Class. Here’s a detailed look at the experience and whether I think it’s worth the extra money. This review will go over my experience on the Fiji Airways Business Class on the 4 hours flight from Nadi International Airport (NAN) to Sydney International Airport (SYD).
Overall Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Business Seats Price
First things first, I actually did not purchase these Business Class seats when I booked my flight from Los Angeles, California (U.S.) to Nadi, Fiji (as a layover) to Sydney, Australia. I actually purchased Economy Seats at first. Then a few days before the flight, Fiji Airways sent out an email to bid a price for the remaining Business Class seats on both legs of my flight to Sydney.
Of course, I don’t know how many seats were available but the LAX to NAN flight was still too expensive for us to put a bid in, but the second leg from NAN to SYD seemed reasonable with a starting bid of $400. I saw this as a “why not?” so I bid only $5 above the minimum, totaling $405 USD, and we got the seats!
Check-In & Lounge
Business Class passengers get a dedicated check-in counter at Nadi International Airport, which means a fast, stress-free start to our experience. Security and immigration were quick as well.
With the premium ticket, you also get access to the Fiji Airways Premier Lounge. This is genuinely one of the nicest lounges I’ve been to (I also have Priority Pass). The lounge has:
- Fresh tropical décor with big windows
- Comfortable seating areas and showers
- Hot and cold Fijian-inspired food plus a self-serve bar
- Excellent Fijian hospitality (staff bring drinks to your seat)
It’s a great way to spend an hour or two before your flight.

The Cabin & Seats
On my Fiji Airways flight, the business class seats had a 2-2 configuration with only a total of 8 seats. The Nadi-Sydney route is a short flight (about 4½ hours), but the seat makes a huge difference compared to Economy.
Seat Space
The A330 business seats do not offer full lay flat like long-haul flights. Since the Nadi-Sydney flight is only 4½ hours, this isn’t exactly a long-haul flight where lay-flat seats are the norm for business class. Nonetheless, these business class seats were wide, comfortable and had a generous recline and footrest.
Privacy
On the A330, you’ll need to step over your neighbor if you’re at the window to get into the aisle, but there’s still plenty of foot space where you don’t feel cramped or have to maneuver over in an off-putting way.
Amenities
A soft blanket, pillow, noise-reducing headphones, amenity kit with Fijian-made skincare products, and free Fiji water bottles are included in the price

Dining
Fiji Airways takes pride in showcasing local flavors on its menu. During boarding and after take-off, you’re offered a welcome drink (I chose sparkling wine, but they also serve fresh tropical juices), and a small bowl of a chex mix. You can also have as many refills on beverages as you’d like throughout the flight as well.
Meal options included:
- A starter like a fresh salad and a side of bread and butter
- Mains such as grilled fish with Fijian spices or a beef fillet
- A decadent dessert or cheese plate
Everything was served on white linen with real cutlery. Service was genuinely warm and unhurried.

In-Flight Entertainment
Each seat has a large screen with movies, TV shows, and a few Fijian documentaries. The system is responsive and easy to use. Wi-Fi is not yet standard on all aircraft, but for such a short hop you probably won’t miss it. Although this isn’t specifically a Business Class amenity, but more of a window seat perk, but the views of Fiji are amazing where you’ll want to spend a bit of time looking out.

Final Words: Worth It!
If you’re after a comfortable, stress-free flight, Fiji Airways Business Class delivers. The lounge, the genuinely warm service, and the spacious seats transform a routine regional flight into a pleasant experience. Because the flight is relatively short, it’s not as essential as on a long-haul to Los Angeles or Vancouver. But if you value lounge access, priority service, extra baggage allowance, and a bit of indulgence, it’s definitely worth considering. I hope this Fiji Airways review encourages you to give the Business Class a chance.
