Electronic Devices Travel Essentials
In the age of technology, packing the right electronic devices can significantly enhance your travel experience and make your trip more stress-free and enjoyable. Here are my top 10 electronic devices to bring on your travels. I’ve also included various options to fit different preferences, and links to purchase items from Amazon.
1. eSim or Pocket WiFi
Having access to the internet when traveling is a must! To do so without breaking the bank on international data usage is by either: renting/purchasing a pocket WiFi or activating an eSIM on your phone.
When I travel with my partner, we rent a pocket WiF – a portable internet hotspot router – that we both can connect to. When I travel solo or with friends (who have their own decent international data plan), then I’ll get an eSIM to take care of my own data needs.
Airalo eSIM
An eSIM I always opt for is Airalo. They have eSIMs that can either cover a single country (aka Local eSIMs), or Regional eSIMs to cover multiple countries, or a Global eSIM for worldwide coverage that includes 136 countries. You can also choose how much data you want to purchase which corresponds with a validity duration. These start at a low price and increases for additional data and durations. If you run out of data on your plan when you’re already abroad, then you are also able to purchase a top-up package and get more data.
Search your destination in the below widget to browse Airalo’s eSIM, or click here:
When looking for an eSIM that suits your trip, be sure to select the appropriate region that includes the countries you’re visiting. If your trip covers multiple regions, then a Global eSIM is probably best. Note that not all Regional eSIMs cover all countries so be sure to check your destinations are included, or understand that you may not have data there.
It’s important to know that Airalo’s Local and Regional eSIMs are Data only and do not include Calls & Text. However, Airalo does have eSIMs that include Data, Calls, & Text under their Global eSIM category.
When looking into eSIMs, make sure your phone is compatible to activate one (newer phones most likely are). Simply research your phone model and check if it supports eSIM before looking too deep into this option.
TravelWiFi Portable Hotspot
Rental Pocket WiFi → Click here to rent now @ TravelWifi
I prefer to rent a portable hotspot from TravelWiFi and share its services with my partner. The minimum amount of data you can rent is 1 GB per day, which is quite a lot. So you and other people (you can connect up to 5 people on one device) can split the cost and have a decent amount of data to use per day. Not only that, but if you do use up your daily data usage, you will still have service, just at reduced speeds.
Make sure to check what regions or countries a pocket WiFi services to ensure it has service in your destination country. When purchasing/renting, you can choose what region or country you want the internet service in, but note that not all pocket WiFis cover all regions so be sure to check.
2. Portable Power Charger/Bank
Bringing a portable charger or power bank is a lifesaver, especially during long flights/rides or when you’re out and about exploring places without easy access to power sockets. The last thing you want is your phone and/or your pocket WiFi, running out of battery when you’re in a new location. Try looking for a compact, high-capacity power bank that suits your charging needs and provides multiple charges for your devices.
This power bank seemingly lasts forever and can charge my phone multiple times before the power bank needs its own recharge. It’s slim and compact size is also perfect to bring with you everywhere.

3. Portable Luggage Scale
Avoid unnecessary luggage fees and bring a portable luggage scale with you on your travels! This will ensure that your check-in luggage weight is within limits and avoid paying extra for overweight fees.
I especially like to bring this when I know I’m going to travel on smaller planes (which have smaller and stricter weight requirements) and if I plan to purchase a ton of souvenirs.

4. Small Tracking Device (iOS & Android OS)
A small tracking device, such as the Apple AirTag or Tile brand, is a game-changer for travelers. The peace of mind these provide can turn a potentially stressful situation into just a minor inconvenience, ensuring you spend more time enjoying your travels and less time worrying about lost items.
Apple Airtag (For iphone users)
The Apple AirTag is designed to help you keep track of your belongings and it pairs seamlessly with your iPhone via BlueTooth. You can attach it to your luggage, backpack, or any other valuable item, which you can easily locate using the Find My app.
Airtag (1-Pack)
I ALWAYS tend to lose or “misplace” my belongings, so keeping an AirTag on them gives me such a stress- and care-free feeling that makes these SO worth it!
Keep track of and find your items alongside friends and devices in the Find My app

If you’re putting an AirTag in your check-in luggage, note that when you leave/separate from your luggage at the ticket counter, the location may not be super precise. Similarly, when getting off a plane at a new destination, the location will take some time to accurately update. Be a bit patient and give the Find My app and AirTag up to 30 minutes to “refresh” before freaking out. The Find My app will also have a “last seen” timestamp which can help you determine if it’s an update or if it’s stale data.
Tile (For Android OS Phone Users)
Tile Mate (1-Pack)
The Tile brand is the Android-equivalent of the Apple AirTag and provides the same benefits with similar functionality.
1-Pack. Bluetooth Tracker, Keys Finder and Item Locator; Up to 250 ft. Range. Up to 3 Year Battery. Water-Resistant. Phone Finder. iOS and Android Compatible

5. Noise-Cancelling Headphones or Earbuds
Whether you’re on a noisy plane, bustling train, lazing by the pool/ocean, or just want to relax in your hotel room, noise-cancelling headphones are definitely a must-have. Noise-cancelling headphones or earbuds create an immersive and peaceful audio environment by drowning out the outside ambient noise. This will allow you to enjoy your favorite music, podcasts, or audiobooks without any external distractions.

6. Camera and Extra Batteries
While smartphones have impressive cameras, a dedicated compact camera or action cam can take your travel photography to the next level. You can capture stunning landscapes, vibrant street scenes, and underwater adventures with ease with these. Compact cameras offer advanced features and adds a touch of professionalism in the resulting photos.
Action cams are more rugged and perfect for on-the-go activities and they work great on selfie sticks. Additionally, ensure you have enough memory cards and memory card storage. Oh and don’t forget to bring the camera charger and extra batteries!

Whether you’re at a hot destination or simply tend to run hot, then a portable fan is a must-have when it comes to staying cool on the go. These fans are compact, easy to carry, and provide a refreshing breeze wherever you are. From handheld fans to those that hang around your neck, there’s a variety to choose from to keep you cool during outdoor activities. Additionally, they are rechargeable and last awhile on a single charge!

Universal Adapter
An adapter is definitely a must-have when traveling to a different country! Choose an adapter that suits the power outlets of your destination country to power and charge your own devices.
Built-In Plug Adapters
This is an amazing all-in-one device! Port accepts 10 plug types and has built-in plug adapters that covers 150 countries + 4 USB ports. No extra attachments make this an easy packable item
One International Wall Charger AC Plug Adaptor with 5.6A Smart Power and 3.0A USB Type-C for USA EU UK AUS
For US Plug Devices (2 USB-A & 2 USB-C)
I love this adapter because of the connected built-in USB-C charger (which I use to charge my portable power bank) so that’s one less charger cord to worry about! It also has two USB-C ports (perfect to charge my iPhone and Apple Watch simultaneously), and 2 USB-A ports is sufficient to charge my other devices (like my camera and portable fan). The included attachments also cover so many countries so you can only bring the one(s) you need for your trip.
2 USB-A, USB-C US Outlets, 20W/QC 18W Power Delivery, Surge Protection, SWADAPT Compatible for Europe, UK, China, Australia, Japan Perfect Laptop (WPS-5B)
For US Plug Devices (2 USB-A)
A cheaper option compared to the above adapter. This one doesn’t include the 2 USB-C ports (in case you don’t have Apple devices), but still has 2 USB-A ports and the connected built-in USB-C port.
2 USB, USB-C Cord+2 US Outlets QC 3.0, Surge Protection, Plugs for Europe, UK, China, Australia, Japan - Perfect for Laptop, Cell Phones, Cameras,Safe ETL Tested
Universal Adapter + Voltage Converter
If you’re traveling to a country whose outlet voltage differs from your country (like the U.S. @ 110V, and Europe @ 220V), then you’ll need an adapter with a converter to convert the voltage of an outlet to match the needs of your devices. This is perfect for powering curling irons and hair straighteners when abroad!
This converter works great for US electric devices that need its voltage converted to use while abroad. I was able to use my hair straightener without worry, and it has sufficient USB-A ports and the 2 AC sockets were sufficient to charge all my devices using just this converter. Not only that, but this also automatically shuts off if it detects over-current or short-circuiting which will protect your devices from damage. The included attachments also cover so many countries so you can bring just the one(s) you need!

A small power strip will work wonders to charge multiple devices from a single outlet. Combo using this with a converter to power the power strip without worry!
Power Strip (1 USB-A & 2 USB-C)
I absolutely love the packability of this with the wraparound cord design. Makes it so easy to pack and handle! This power strip is also perfect if you have charger cords that need a USB-C port such as an iPhone or Apple watch.

10. Electronics Organizer
In today’s digital age, a dedicated electronics organizer is a must. Keep your chargers, cables, power banks, and gadgets neatly arranged in one place. Additionally, an organizer with pockets and elastic loops to secure your devices is ideal to prevent tangles and ensures everything stays put and ready for use.
This electronics organizer is great to hold all my numerous charging cords, power bank, and portable pocket WiFi all in one place. The pockets help organize and separate items and I also love that it’s relatively flat so that it can easily slide into my backpack.
