Electronic Devices Travel Essentials
In the age of technology, packing the right electronic devices can significantly enhance your travel experience whether you’re embarking on a business trip, an epic adventure, or a leisurely vacation. Here are my top 7 electronic devices to bring on your travels. I’ve also included links to items I bring and use on my trips.
1. eSim or Pocket WiFi
Having access to the internet when traveling is a must! To do so without breaking the bank on international data usage is by either: renting/purchasing a pocket WiFi or activating an eSIM on your phone.
When I travel with my partner, we rent a pocket WiFi, a portable internet hotspot router, that we both can connect to. When I travel with my friends who have their own decent international data plan, then I’ll get an eSIM to take care of my own internet needs.

Make sure to check what regions or countries an eSIM or pocket WiFi services to ensure it has service in your destination country. When purchasing/renting/activating, you can choose what region or country you want the internet service in, but note that not all pocket WiFIs or eSIMs cover all regions so be sure to check. When looking into eSIMs, make sure your phone is compatible to activate one (newer phones most likely are). Simply research your phone model and check if it supports eSIM before looking too deep into this option.
2. Portable Power Charger/Bank
Bringing a portable charger or power bank is a lifesaver, especially during long flights/rides or when you’re out and about exploring places without easy access to power sockets. The last thing you want is your phone and/or your pocket WiFi, running out of battery when you’re in a new location. Try looking for a compact, high-capacity power bank that suits your charging needs and provides multiple charges for your devices.

This power bank seemingly lasts forever and can charge my phone multiple times before the power bank needs its own recharge. It’s slim and compact size is also perfect to bring with you everywhere.
3. Portable Luggage Scale
Avoid unnecessary luggage fees and bring a portable luggage scale with you on your travels! This will ensure that your check-in luggage weight is within limits and avoid paying extra for overweight fees.

I especially like to bring this when I know I’m going to travel on smaller planes (which have smaller and stricter weight requirements) and if I plan to purchase a ton of souvenirs.
4. Small Tracking Device
A small tracking device, such as the iPhone Apple AirTag or a Tile Pro, is a game-changer for travelers. The peace of mind these provide can turn a potentially stressful situation into just a minor inconvenience, ensuring you spend more time enjoying your travels and less time worrying about lost items.
For iPhone Users: the Apple AirTag is designed to help you keep track of your belongings and it pairs seamlessly with your iPhone via BlueTooth. You can attach it to your luggage, backpack, or any other valuable item, which you can easily locate using the Find My app.
For Android Phone Users: the Tile Pro is the Android-equivalent of the Apple AirTag and provides the same benefits with similar functionality.

I ALWAYS tend to lose or “misplace” my belongings, so keeping an AirTag on them gives me such a stress- and care-free feeling that makes these SO worth it! If you’re putting an AirTag in your check-in luggage, note that when you leave/separate from your luggage at the ticket counter, the location may not be super precise. Similarly, when getting off a plane at a new destination, the location will take some time to accurately update. Be a bit patient and give the Find My app and AirTag up to 30 minutes to “refresh” before freaking out. The Find My app will also have a “last seen” timestamp which can help you determine if it’s an update or stale data.
5. Noise-Cancelling Headphones or Earbuds
Whether you’re on a noisy plane, bustling train, lazing by the pool/ocean, or just want to relax in your hotel room, noise-cancelling headphones are definitely a must-have. They create an immersive and peaceful audio environment by reducing ambient noise. This will allow you to enjoy your favorite music, podcasts, or audiobook without external distractions.

6. Camera and Extra Batteries
While smartphones have impressive cameras, a dedicated compact camera or action cam can take your travel photography to the next level. You can capture stunning landscapes, vibrant street scenes, and underwater adventures with ease with these. Compact cameras offer advanced features and adds a touch of professionalism in the resulting photos. Action cams are more rugged and perfect for on-the-go activities where they work great on selfie sticks. Additionally, ensure you have enough memory cards and memory card storage. Oh and don’t forget to bring extra batteries and chargers!

7. Portable Fan
Whether you’re at a hot destination or simply tend to run hot, then a portable fan is a must-have when it comes to staying cool on the go. These fans are compact, easy to carry, and provide a refreshing breeze wherever you are. From handheld fans to those that hang around your neck, there’s a variety to choose from to keep you cool during outdoor activities. Additionally, they are rechargeable and last awhile on a single charge!
Whenever I go to a hot destination, I bring several different portable fan versions depending on what activities are planned or simply because I know I run hot:
